What’s it like to have your head in the clouds?
What’s it like to have your head in the clouds?
You can find out by visiting the 253 gallery in June
It’s been said that John Wise has his head in the clouds since they are the subject of a lot of his paintings. He has always been fascinated by their form and color.
Although John paints with acrylics, his goal has always been to make them look as much like oil painting as possible. A pretty difficult task since the quick drying time of acrylics affects the ability to blend colors. He paints from impressions of places he has seen up close inArizonaand inWashington.
“I hope to instill a feeling of wanting to be right there when you look at my paintings because being there was awesome for me”
John has exhibited his works in a number of shows and competitions including the Western Washington State Fair inPuyallup, The City of Auburn, the Frank Tobey Jones Art Show, and the Lakewold Gardens Art show, and theTacomaArt Museum. He has been facilitating fine art acrylic painting classes for Grunbacher/Michael’s since May 2010, and has demonstrated his cloud painting technique for the Mountain Valley Arts Club in Sumner and at the Rainier League of Arts inTacoma.
John is the 253 ArtGallery featured artist for June. You can see his exhibit of cloud themes and subjects at1901 South Jefferson Streetin downtownTacoma, or as part of the Art Bus tour.
